Emergency services dealing with fire at Granby Close

AT least five fire crews are reported to be dealing with a fire at Granby Close in Llanelli. One eye witness told Llanelli Online that at least one person was rescued from the blaze and two people are suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation. These are unconfirmed reports. We will bring you more news as and when it comes in.

19:20 – Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue have confirmed that they received a call at 17:09 this evening and five pumps attended the incident, which is still ongoing.

19:43 – We are told at least one ambulance and police are in attendance. Our reporter Iwan Lewis is at the scene.

19:47 We are told that some residents have been evacuated to the Morfa Social Club.

20:02 Some of the fire service vehicles are now leaving the scene.

Cllr Sean Rees who represents the Glanymor ward and who is at the scene said: “I’ve just spoken with the emergency services on site. I want to thank the police, ambulance and fire services for their response to this incident at Granby Close this evening. I have also been speaking with some of the residents and families in our area and understandably we are shocked. Some residents have now also been evacuated to the Morfa Social Club. The Morfa community is  coming together tonight and our thoughts are with all those who have been affected.”
