Election 2017

Election 2017

The call for a snap general election took many by surprise. One of the key factors influencing the decision is Brexit. It’s a crucial issue for all of the parties and, significantly, an issue which cut across parties but cleanly divided voters into two camps.

Labour appears to be in disarray if the pundits are to be believed. The Conservatives look set to record their biggest gains across the country if the polls are to be believed. Plaid Cymru is set to hold its three seats at Westminster.

UKIP leader Paul Nuttall has said he will put “country before party” by not standing candidates in some Conservative/Labour marginals where there is a strongly pro-Brexit MP or where a pro-Brexit candidate has a chance of ousting a pro-Remain MP.
Here in Wales  there have  been divisions in Labour and Plaid Cymru over Brexit. UKIP have all but disappeared.

What does the ‘man/woman on the street’ think?
