Driver fined for failing to give information relating to motoring offence

54-year-old Kevin Morris of Grant Street Llanelli appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on 04/07 charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle by Cardiff Magistrates Court
on 29/04/2022.

The court heard that on 25/10/2021 at Cardiff, Morris drove a motor vehicle, namely a Ford Esosport
Titanium and failed to comply with the indication given by a traffic sign specified as subject to obligatory endorsement in Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988, namely a red light traffic signal, lawfully placed on or near a road, other than a motorway, namely A4161, Newport Road Junction with Rover Way. Contrary to section 36(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988, the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.

The court heard that on 25/10/2021, the defendant drove a motor vehicle and failed to comply with the indication
given by a traffic sign specified as subject to obligatory endorsement in Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988, namely a red light traffic signal, lawfully placed on or near a road, other than a motorway, namely A4161,
Newport Road junction with Rover Way.

Morris pleaded guilty to the charges. He was fined £40.00 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £34 to fund victim services. Morris was also ordered to pay  costs of £90. His driving record was endorsed with 3 points. The defendant’s guilty plea was taken into account.
