SHOPPERS in Llanelli may well be asking why there are armed police on the streets.
Llanelli Online were approached by a number of members of the public asking that very question. We found the answer very quickly courtesy of Dyfed-Powys Police.
Temporary Chief Inspector Mike Melly said: “Members of the public might see armed officers in the lead-up to Christmas as they patrol crowded public areas.
“Specialist assets and armed officers have been deployed to keep people safe at this busy time, and we ask that you don’t be alarmed if you see them. They are there to protect you, and are a friendly bunch if you want to speak to them.”
