THE little rat, which appeared in Llanelli around ten years ago, was tucked away just at the side of the library in Llanelli.
It was largely ignored as a piece of street art but some people are now contemplating the possibility that it could be a ‘Banksy’ and the first to have been placed in Wales.
A local councillor told Llanelli Online that an artist who lives locally had contacted them and said she believed it was a Banksy.
As a precaution the councillor sought the permission of the manager of the British Heart Foundation shop whose wall the rat happens to be on in order to cover it with some Perspex.
The councillor who did not wish to be named said: “If it turns out to be a Banksy it could attract the wrong attention.
“I have contacted John Brandler who is a Banksy expert and the man responsible for verifying the Banksy, which appeared in Port Talbot.
“I sent the photos to him and it is interesting enough for him to come down from London.”
