The Dark Knight returns

The Dark Knight returns

YMLAEN Llanelli – the BID are continuing with their successful series of events in the town to encourage visitors. Mandy Jenkins from Ymlaen Llanelli said: ‘Following his successful appearance in Llanelli last summer, Batman will be returning to Llanelli town centre on Tuesday, 10th April. This time he will be bringing two Batmobiles and a Batcycle!’

The event kicks off at 12pm in Stepney Square where there will also be crafts, face painting and fairground rides. Free children’s activities are also taking place in the library and market throughout the day. Children and adults are being encouraged to come along dressed as their favourite superhero to join in the fun.

The cars and bike come courtesy of Character Cars who will bring the 1966 version of the Batmobile made famous by Adam West and the 1989 version, which was Michael Keaton’s primary mode of transport.

The occasion is part of a series of events brought to Llanelli by Ymlaen Llanelli, the town’s Business Improvement District. Other recent successful events include the Circus Skills Spectacular which took place during February half term and the Reindeer Parade which took place in December. The aim of these events is to increase footfall in Llanelli and to bring in families who may not ordinarily come into town.

Ymlaen Llanelli Chair Lesley Richards said, “Superhero Day was very popular last summer and we hope this event will be bigger and better. It’s lovely to see so many young families in the town centre joining in the fun by dressing up. We have so much to offer and events are a good way to showcase that”.

Ymlaen Llanelli has also organised an Easter egg hunt for the school holidays. There are ten wooden eggs hidden in businesses throughout the town centre. Entry forms can be picked up from the library. Every child that completes the form and finds all the eggs gets a crème egg. All the completed forms will them be entered into a competition to win a chocolate egg hamper donated by Wilko. Happy hunting!
