THE Coronavirus Childcare Assistance Scheme which supports the cost of childcare for 0-3 year-olds for critical workers during the coronavirus pandemic has been extended until August 31.
The Welsh Government has announced that it will continue to provide funded childcare for the pre-school age children of critical workers as well as vulnerable children.
However, it is likely that it will close to new entrants from mid-July. This will be confirmed as soon as possible.
The Childcare Offer for Wales also remains suspended to new entrants until the start of September.
Critical workers in Carmarthenshire should continue to use the booking form on the council website to register for childcare newsroom.carmarthenshire.gov.wales/coronavirus.
Executive Board Member for Education and Children’s Services Cllr Glynog Davies said: “It is still important that critical workers continue to receive childcare support at this time, so that they can carry on with their vital work in responding to the coronavirus pandemic, knowing their children are being well looked after.
“Childcare settings including day nurseries, childminders, Cylchoedd Meithrin and Flying Start Hubs throughout the county are continuing to provide a valuable service for parents making sure children feel happy, safe and secure during this very uncertain time.
“The staff are doing an amazing job and I would like to say a huge thank you for providing such a vital service during these challenging times, and enabling our critical services to continue running.”
