HUNDREDS of athletes took part in the Llanelli Half Marathon today, Sunday (Feb 18). Conditions were chilly but that would have suited many of the local participants who pound the tarmac along the course most days during their training including the team from Gomer Williams Solicitors in Llanelli.
Speaking to Llanelli Online after the event Juliet Phillips-James from Gomer Williams Solicitors said: “The atmosphere was immense. We were so pleased to see the volume of people out on a Sunday morning to support us. The weather was kind and we all made it around the course.
“We just did this one for fun on this occasion but we’ve been bitten by the bug and will be looking to take part in future events for local causes.”
This well organised event has become a popular fixture on the calendar for runners from across the country. The race started and finished at Parc y Scarlets with Carmarthenshire Council county councillor Peter Hughes Griffiths leading the countdown to the start.
