Plaid Cymru Llanelli candidate for Westminster Mari Arthur has welcomed the party’s best ever result in the Carmarthenshire Local Authority election.

“Congratulations to all of the Plaid Cymru candidates elected today. This result is a testament to the good work of Plaid Cymru in running Carmarthenshire County Council, delivering important capital investment and protecting services in challenging economic times.
“It also shows that people recognise that only Plaid Cymru will protect their communities. With the prospect of a strengthened Conservative government in Westminster we know that Wales’ interests will be put at the back of the queue. Labour is too weak and too divided – only Plaid Cymru will defend Wales.
“There are challenging times ahead, and I look forward to working with our strong team of Plaid Cymru councillors in Carmarthenshire as we continue to protect our communities.”
