Carmarthenshire school children join mass choir for Christmas Fantasia

HUNDREDS of local primary school pupils are being given the unique experience to sing with a leading symphony orchestra at leading concert halls later this year.

Pupils from local primary schools across Carmarthenshire will take part in ‘SINGCREDIBLE’, an exciting primary school outreach initiative by the Llanelli’s famous Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers. SINGCREDIBLE will give primary school children the experience of professional performances at leading concert halls and singing with a symphony orchestra.

Taking part will be lucky year 5 and year 6 pupils from the area who will enjoy professional singing and performance training alongside the acclaimed Angelicus Celtis of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent and the international broadcast and performance voices of Llanelli’s famous Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers.

To date, over 120 pupils have already signed up for the unique experience including pupils from  Burry Port Community Primary School, Pentip VA Church in Wales Primary School Llanelli, St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School Llanelli, Ysgol Gymraeg. Brynsierfel Llwynhendy, Ysgol Pen Rhos, Llanelli and Ysgol y Castell, Kidwelly, Tycroes Primary School and Furnace Primary School.

“We have been overwhelmed at the speed and enthusiasm of the response”, said Jeremy Hywel, Creative Director with the Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers. “It’s wonderful to be able to give children this unique one off experience in singing and performance for free.”

The SINGCREDIBLE chorus of local primary school children will first perform at the traditional sell-out Christmas Fantasia at Y Ffwrnes on Saturday 2 December performing with the symphonic sounds of the British Sinfonietta, Wales’ famous Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers and the exciting Angelicus Celtis as seen on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent. On Sunday 10 December, the pupils will then perform on the magnificent stage of Swansea’s acclaimed Brangwyn Hall for a Festival of Christmas with plans for the performance to be recorded.

The performance by the giant Singcredible Chorus will include music from Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee, a big orchestral Joy to the World, a heart-warming and roof-raising O Holy Night as well as exciting fanfare performances of Hark The Herald Angels Sing and O Come All ye Faithful.

Schoolgirl members of the celebrity Angelicus Celtis who are enjoying television and radio fame currently will be ambassadors and mentors to each school.

“Our only regret is that the concert stages and audience auditoriums weren’t bigger to welcome more pupils to take part and allow more members of the public tickets to hear the pupils perform in these exciting events”, explained legendary conductor John Hywel Williams who will conduct the chorus.

The next rehearsal for Singcredible will be at 2.45pm – 5.00pm on Saturday 21 October at St John Lloyd’s School, Havard Road, Llanelli. All are welcome.
