AN elderly woman who fell out of her wheelchair in Carmarthen town centre had to wait over two hours for an ambulance today, Friday (Mar 23).
One lady who did not wish to be named told Llanelli Online that she had seen the lady on the floor outside the ‘Days’ store in the town centre and had passed by two hours later to see the lady still there. She said it was ‘unacceptable’ that the lady had to wait so long for an ambulance.
Staff from the store and passers by waited with the lady and she was handed blankets in an attempt to keep her warm.
Another lady from Carmarthen who did not wish to be named said that she believed the lady had been wheeled out of the Days store in her wheelchair. She explained that the store did not have a disability ramp and that the chair had dropped sharply down from the step and that the lady had fallen out of the wheelchair as a result.
The injured woman was taken from the scene at approximately 2:38pm.
