Burry Port RNLI rescue two people cut off by incoming tide

BURRY Port RNL were called to assist two people cut off by the incoming tide at Machynys, Llanelli, today, Saturday (Jan 18).

In a statement the Burry Port RNLI Press Officer Alun Wells said: “At 11.15 this morning we were paged by Milford Haven UK Coastguard for an immediate launch, to assist 2 persons in the water, cut off by the fast incoming tide, on a sandbank in the Llanelli/Machynys area.

“The D class ILB was launched first, followed swiftly by the Atlantic 85, and both proceeded quickly to the area.

“The D class ILB arrived on scene first, picked up the 2 casualties, checked them for any medical attention requirements, and then returned them to the safety of the beach, to the awaiting UK Coastguard Teams.

“Both boats safely returned to Burry Port harbour for recovery.

“Our first service call for 2020, and another successful rescue for our volunteer crews.”
