Bont Carnival Committee awarded £4,000 from Tesco

Pontarddulais Carnival Committee have received a whopping £4,000 from Tesco in Pontarddulais via their carrier bag fund.

Every two months Tesco offer three community groups the opportunity to win funds, and the Tesco funding scheme in Pontarddulais has already given  £42,000 to local groups since March 2017.

One of the committee members Steve Lloyd Janes said that the £4000 pounds awarded by Tesco will go a long way towards helping to organise an amazing 50th anniversary parade.

The local carnival committee will be meeting on Thursday 22nd February at 7.30pm at the Noddfa Chapel in Pontarddulais where the committee will be discussing the summer carnival parade.

New volunteers are welcome. This year the carnival committee will be celebrating their fiftieth parade. The first parade was organised and held in 1969 to celebrate the investiture of Prince Charles and they have have held a carnival every year since.

The committee would like to thank all the local people who recently shopped at Tesco’s and voted for the carnival committee using the blue tokens that are given at the checkouts.
