THE Pembrey and Burry Port Heritage Group’s first Blue Plaque will be unveiled by the Town Council’s Mayor in a ceremony on Saturday (Mar 23) at 10.30am.
It will be erected on the junction of The Old Tramway and Station Road and commemorates the early industrialist George Bowser.
Bowser built a horse-drawn tramway from his colliery at Cwm Capel to transport coal to the new Burry Port Harbour.
The plaque will be situated on the route of the old tramway.
Heritage Group Coordinator Graham Davies said: “The George Bowser plaque is the first of a series of plaques to be erected throughout the town to remember the early industrialists.
“We hope that they will remind people of the rich heritage we have in Pembrey and Burry Port”.
