The Pembrey beach was among dozens of Welsh beaches to be named among the best in the UK and the world.
A record-breaking 50 Blue Flags are flying in Wales including Cefn Sidan after being judged in the Keep Wales Tidy’s Coastal Awards.
The prestigious award is only awarded to beaches, marinas and boats that have the highest quality of water, environmental education and management, safety and services.
It acts as a guarantee to the public that a beach is among the finest not only in the country, but around the world.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s head of leisure, Ian Jones said: “The Blue Flag is a symbol of excellence and is widely considered the gold standard for beaches. The beautiful coastline here in Carmarthenshire and Pembrey Country Park is attracting more and more visitors each year so we’re thrilled once again to be awarded this much respected accolade.”
The Blue Flag Award is owned by the independent organisation Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and runs in 48 countries across the world.
