The Ymalen Llanelli sheep search competition has a winner.
For nearly two weeks at the end of August, children and adults were encouraged to take part in a competition which took them to nine separate businesses around the town centre. The competition was part of the Llanelli town centre yarn bombing project which was supported by Ymlaen Llanelli and the town and county councils.
Local knitting group, Crafty Seniors were responsible for the knitted creations which brightened up the town for two weeks. The group which is based out of Clos Llanfihangel in Dafen spent months knitting a variety of bunting, bollard covers and various other items to dress up Llanelli. They came up with the idea of a competition which saw nine wooden sheep placed around town. Entrants were asked to follow clues to each location and count or guess the number of knitted pompoms per sheep.
Cari who took part in the competition with a little help from her mum, worked hard to find the sheep which were placed in: Blodau Elli, The Fragrance Shop, Beauty 2 Bubbles, On Your Bike, British Heart Foundation, The Works, Garrett’s Fresh Seafood and Llanelli Town Council.
The prize for the competition was a ‘Back to School’ hamper worth £25, kindly donated by Wilko. Store manager and Ymlaen Llanelli board member Tony Edwards.
