The leader of Plaid Cymru Leanne Wood was in Llanelli today along with Mari Arthur, Plaid’s candidate to contest the Llanelli seat for MP. Both ladies popped in to Llanelli Online and we will bring you those interviews and photographs here soon.
The hot issue was Brexit as the following Plaid Cymru press release confirms.
Plaid Cymru Westminster candidate Mari Arthur has pledged to stand up to the Tories to ensure that Llanelli will not lose a single penny through Brexit. She said that Labour has proven that it is too weak and too divided to fight for Wales’ interests against the worst of a right wing Conservative government, and that only Plaid Cymru will fight for Wales’ interests.
Mari Arthur said that Wales is under threat from a Conservative party that will not put Wales’ needs first, and it is crucial that the people of Wales get behind a party that will fight for their interests.
Plaid Cymru Llanelli candidate Mari Arthur said:
“It is crucial that we get a good Brexit deal for Wales and only Plaid Cymru will fight for it.
“With the Conservatives at the helm we know that Wales’ interests will be at the back of the queue, and places like Llanelli have the most to lose. Labour has proven that it is too weak and too divided to stand up to the tories.
“If I am elected I will fight to ensure that Llanelli does not lose a single penny or any of the skills we need as we withdraw from the European Union. With a strong team of Plaid Cymru MP’s in Westminster, we can make sure that Wales’ voice is heard as the negotiations happen, so that we can have a good Brexit deal for Wales.
“I will be a fierce champion for Llanelli in Westminster, fighting for our best interests.
“Only Plaid Cymru can be trusted to deliver for Wales. That is why it is crucial that the people vote for Plaid Cymru.
Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood said:
“Mari Arthur is an excellent candidate to represent Plaid Cymru in Llanelli. She is a do-er. She has great energy and a high work ethic, having run her own business as well as heading up high profile organisations. She will bring a breath of fresh air to Westminster, where she would work day in day out to defend people in Llanelli against harmful Tory policies. With Labour split and in no fit state to win this election in England, the Tories are on course for a landslide. A vote for Mari and Plaid Cymru on June 8th is a vote for Wales. We can expect the same results if we keep doing the same thing over and over again. It’s time for a change.”
