DYFED-Powys Police in Llanelli are investigating several linked incidents in the Llanelli town area, between 9pm and 10pm on Monday night (19 March).
Reports state a dark coloured vehicle – possibly a small Audi hatchback – has stopped a number of people in the Tyisha, Felinfoel and Llwynhendy areas, and demanded to search them.
It appears a number of males were involved, who were exiting the car and shining a torch in to the faces of the people they demanded to search. Victims reported the males claimed to be police officers, and demanded they empty their pockets. Nobody was injured as a result.
Dyfed-Powys Police officers follow strict protocols when carrying out a Stop and Search procedure, and will show their warrant card and clearly state their reasons for the search, before any search takes place.
The investigation is ongoing, anyone with information that could help officers is urged to contact Llanelli JIU by calling 101, extension: 26324. Alternatively, anonymously phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. If you are Deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired text the non-emergency number on 07811 311 908.”
