Anyone on the roads between Five roads and Porthyrhyd today, Sunday (Jul 2) may have become a little frustrated at getting stuck behind a tractor but they may have had some patience given that it is silage season and a farmer’s work has to be done.
Imagine being stuck behind 125 tractors. That is exactly what one would have encountered as a convoy of 125 tractors took part in the annual Calon Plus tractor rally.
In a previous life Llanelli Online used to collect air extraction systems, we were extractor fans (boom boom).
The real tractor fans turned out in force to support this great charity, which to date has raised a staggering £21,000 for the Prince Phillip and Glangwilli hospitals.
Speaking to our roving reporter Terence Owens who was at the event one of the organisers Wyn Rees said: “Up to £21,000 has been raised for the hospitals only through this tractor run once a year. The turnout has been brilliant. It started with 60 tractors 5 years ago and his year we have 125 tractors. It is a huge success story and it is growing. Where it will end up I don’t know.”
We will be uploading a gallery of images here later today. Ooh arrr, yes we will.
