Albies win the cup

Albies win the cup

Evans & Williams were victorious in the Morris Cup Final, which was played at Stebonheath Park today, Saturday (Apr 1). Before the game kicked off both coaches said it would be a 50/50 game and they were right. There was nothing between the sides for the majority of the game. Penyfan did look dominant in the first half and could have secured a decent lead however they could not avoid the off side trap being played by Evans & Williams. It took 41 minutes before Evans & Williams scored through a penalty by Alex Harries.

Penyfan were back in the game after 57 minues as they were awarded a penalty, with Leon Thomas stepping up to make the score 1 -1. The game looked like it was going into extra time but with only seven minutes remaining Evans & Williams wee awarded another penalty and it was left to Alex Harries to put the ball into the back of the net. Penyfan tried desperately to get something back in the dying minutes but to no avail.

It was a very entertaining game even though all the goals came from penalties. Penyfan will be disappointed that they did not capitalise on a number of chances but on the day, Evans & Williams just took the edge and the silverware.
