TWO people have appeared in court following a ‘firearms’ incident in Carmarthen, which saw around 30 people evacuated from their homes on Wednesday (Aug 1).

Appearing at Carmarthenshire Magistrates’ Court sitting Llanelli Magistrates’ Court today, Friday, (Aug 3).

24-year-old Mr Hafod Jones of Llys Gwehydd, Water Street, Carmarthen

The court heard that on 01/08/2018 at Carmarthen Jones had in his possession an imitation firearm, namely an ‘immitation’ handgun, with intent, by means thereof to cause the victim to believe that unlawful violence would be used against him Contrary to section 16A of and Schedule 6 to the Firearms Act 1968.

Mr Jones was also charged with threatening unlawful violence towards other persons with conduct, such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for his personal safety Contrary to section 3(1) and (7) of the Public Order Act 1986.

Jones was sent for trial under section 51(3) of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 to Swansea Crown Court to appear on 03/09/2018 at 10:00 am.

35-year-old Miss Bernadette Thomas of Llys Y felin Carmarthen.

The court heard that on 31/07/2018 at Carmarthen, knowing or believing that a victim was a witness in proceedings for an offence, did an act, namely ‘shouted at him and pushed him’, which intimidated, and was intended to intimidate the victim, intending thereby to cause the course of justice to be obstructed, perverted or interfered with Contrary to section 51(1) and (6) of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act and Criminal Evidence Act 1999.

Miss Thomas was also charged with on 01/08/2018 at Carmarthen using or threatening unlawful violence towards other persons with conduct such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for his personal Contrary to section 3(1) and (7) of the Public Order Act 1986.

Thomas was sent for trial under section 51(3) of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 to Swansea Crown Court to appear on 03/09/2018 at 10:00 am.
