THE leader of Carmarthenshire County Council Cllr Emlyn Dole says he is optimistic about the state of farming in Carmarthenshire and is working on a portfolio to ensure farmers get a fair deal from the county in the light of Brexit negotiations.

Speaking to Llanelli Online at the Royal Welsh Show in Llanelwedd where Mr Dole and his partner Gwenda were providing musical entertainment he said that he was pushing a ‘rural agenda’ and that the council were putting a ‘task force’ together to look at Brexit and regulations.

He said:

“Until the tories work out what Brexit means it is a bit difficult for the rest of us. Members and officers are working together to see when it is going to hit and how its going to hit.”

Speaking about the Grand Depart of the Tour of Britain in September he said that there was a potential boost of £5million to the local economy.
