Wayne Pivac to replace Warren Gatland as new Wales head coach

IT was been confirmed that head coach Wayne Pivac will leave the Scarlets at the end of the forthcoming season to take up the role of Wales Head Coach.

Wayne will take over from Warren Gatland, who is scheduled to step down after the 2019 Rugby World Cup when he will have served more than 12 years at the helm.

He will remain at the Scarlets for the entirety of the 2018/19 season and will only officially come under WRU employment in July 2019.

Mark Taylor leaves Scarlets with ‘immediate effect’

SCARLETS Team Manager Mark Taylor will leave the region, with immediate effect, for personal reasons.

The 52-times capped centre, and British & Irish Lion, joined the region ahead of the 2016-17 season.

Well-respected by Scarlets colleagues and peers across the rugby fraternity Taylor was a part of the management team when the Scarlets were crowned Guinness PRO12 champions in May 2017.

Former Llanelli RFC players inducted into Hall of Fame

THREE former Llanelli RFC Rugby Union players have been inducted into the Hall of Fame at St Helens Rugby League Football Club.

Kel Coslett, Roy Mathias and John Warlow have been honoured.

All three are keen followers of the Scarlets Rugby Union region and have been regular visitors to Stradey Park and Parc Y Scarlets down the years.

They were at St Helens Rugby League club for the unveiling of their portraits in the Hall of Fame.

Scarlets injury update

THE latest injury update from the Scarlets following Wales summer 2018 tour.

Steff Evans suffered an injury to his knee following the hyperextension event playing for Wales against South Africa. He has seen a specialist and does not require any surgery. It is hoped he will be ready for the start of the coming season.

THE West Wales Raiders continue to fight after falling to a 20 - 82 defeat against Newcastle Thunder at Stebonheath Park on Sunday (June 3).

SCARLETS duo Aaron Shingler and Jonathan Evans are to undergo surgery following injury.

SCARLETS forward John Barclay will miss the Pro14 final this Saturday against Leinster at the Aviva Stadium due to injury.

Barclay ruptured his Achilles Tendon in the Guinness PRO14 semi final, against former club Glasgow Warriors, on Friday night at Scotstoun Stadium with the injury requiring surgical repair.
