Miner’s Welfare Hall still important 80 years on

£300+ penalty for Pontyates dog poo incident

A PONTYATES man learned an expensive lesson for allowing his dog to escape his garden and foul on a grass verge.

Timothy Alan Canby, of Maes Glas, Pontyates, has been ordered to pay £310.85 for failing to pick up after his dog – despite not being with him at the time.

Car seized following Pontyates RTC

Dyfed-Powys Police have seized a car following an road traffic collision (RTC) involving the vehicle on the junction of the B4309 and the B4317 in Pontyates.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Police attended Heol y Meinciau at 11.05pm on Monday, August 21, 2017 following reports of a car blocking the road.

“The car, a black Ford Fiesta, had hit a kerb and wall.

“The car was seized and the driver reported for having no insurance.”

Fire Fighters draw the crowds in Pontyates

Pontyates fire station threw open its doors today, Saturday (Jun 24) and welcomed residents and visitors in for tea, cakes a raffle and demonstrations of activities carried out by the emergency services. People in Pontyates and surrounding areas will continue to have their general health needs met by Meddygfa’r Sarn following the decision by Hywel Dda University Health Board (UHB) to support the GP surgery as a managed practice from 1 October 2017.

Arrest after RTA near Pontyates

A 22-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of illegal drugs following a road traffic accident involving one vehicle on the B4309 near Pontyates. The silver car could be seen overturned in the hedgerow on the road on Tuesday (May 16).
