Ionut Constantin is about to prep a meal of steak, chips, mushroom, tomato, onion rings and side salad.
The chef who hails from Tulcea in Romania is decked in his whites and as calm as a cucumber in the kitchen of Red 10 at Eastgate.
He takes the steak and seasons it before dropping it onto a lightly oiled grill. It instantly sizzles and begins to cook. He adds half a tomato and a large mushroom, a knob of butter and turns the steak.
He preps the salad and with a minute or so left to go he drops in the fries and onion rings. Within a couple of minutes he is adding it all neatly to a slate plate.
Handing me the plate through the hatch he says: “There we go my friend. Enjoy.”
