Singers to receive ‘Masterclass’ at Llanelly House

Loud Applause Rising Stars (LARS) is holding its inaugural Masterclass at Llanelly House on Saturday (Jan 13). Hosting the event will be international soprano Victoria Joyce and LARS Ambassador baritone Mark Llewelyn Evans. Also participating will be members of LARS.

Victoria Joyce graduated from the Royal Northern College of music. Her English National Opera debut took place in 2003 as La Charmeuse in Massenet’s Thaïs and she has since returned to perform the roles of the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute along with many other roles.

She has performed at the Royal Festival Hall, Barbican, Bridgewater Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall in repertoire ranging from Carmina Burana to An Evening with Gilbert and Sullivan.

Recent projects include a live broadcast of Gilbert and Sullivan on BBC Radio 2 for Friday Night is Music Night with the BBC Concert orchestra and starring in two open-air concerts with the prestigious Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig, conducted by Alexander Shelley.

Mark Llewelyn Evans trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio, London Mark has conquered many prestigious opera stages and concert venues.

Mark`s debut album reached the top 10 in the UK classical charts, ‘Tell my Father’ performing with the Band of the Welsh Guards became a number one in the UK, benefitting the Welsh Guards Afghanistan Appeal. As well as Mark`s singing and acting he has presented for BBC Radio Wales, hosted The Duke of Edinburgh’s International World Fellowship Awards, St David’s Day Celebrations in Singapore, National Film Awards 2015 and  An Evening with David Blaine in Naples, Florida. Mark is the artistic director for Opera Sark as well as Artistic director of ABC of Opera a project that introduces children to the magic of opera.

The Masterclass will comprise the LARS singers presenting and performing a song of their choice; our professional artists will then endeavour to improve the performance and technique. The Masterclass will also provide an insight into the lives of musicians, exploring the dedication and talent required to succeed in this challenging industry.
