The Scarlets may have beaten Toulon in a famous victory at Parc y Scarlets on Saturday (Jan 20) but they now have some making up to do with local residents following what some are describing as an absolute outrage and chaos with vehicles parked on pavements on both sides of the street all around the Trostre and Llwynhendy housing estates..
County Councillor Sharen Davies contacted Llanelli Online after being inundated with calls from local residents who claim that they were unable to park outside their own homes. Cllr Davies said: “It was absolutely chaos last night in Llwynhendy due to the Scarlets game. I’ve bee requesting meeting with highways and traffic management committee for the last five years to discuss this issue. This has fallen on deaf years. We have taken pictures and a video of last night’s traffic problem. Residents are really fed up. I’ve constantly asked for meetings with the traffic management group, to date no response. I’ve again. Sent an e-mail this morning asking for an urgent meeting. It’s ridiculous. There are messages all over Facebook.”
Some residents took to social media to post photographs and videos of what they were experiencing.

Phone the police and report it..now against the law to park on pavements..maybe they will patrol the area on match games..x
Loads of people have rung x
Phone the police they are parked on a junction x
Police turned up at 6.30 after me phoning at 5 and turned round by my house and went straight u the rd there not interested x
Not fair is it. X Imagine a fire engine needed to get down there!
Police are around but there not dealing with traffic issues there just watching the ground and around the stadium . I agree with the fact that it’s chaos when the rugby game is on and there’s nowhere to park especially if you live there. You’ve taken photos of the 3 cars by the old school gates, we are residents and parked there as there is nowhere else to park
Llanelli Online contacted Dyfed-Powys Police to ask whether they had received any complaints and if they had responded, what action they had taken. In a statement they said:
“We would advise people to call 101 if a car is parked in such a way that is causing an obstruction.
“If a car is parked on double or single yellow lines, but is not causing an obstruction, it should be reported to the local authority.”
We also contacted Carmarthenshire County Council to ask if they would be monitoring the situation at the next game.
