Scarlets came from nine points down at half-time to defeat the Ospreys at the liberty stadium yesterday, 7 October.

The home side led 9-0 at the break but three second half tries for the reigning champions saw a comeback to edge the match by a point.

Despite Dan Biggar’s perfect 6 from 6 from the tee, it was only enough for a losing bonus point meaning a record fifth consecutive week leaving them bottom of the conference.

Meanwhile for the visitors, they top their conference with six wins out of seven thanks to tries from scrum-half Gareth Davies (2) and a first for prop Samson Lee.

In what was expected to be a typical west Wales derby, form seemed to go out the window and three penalties from Biggar gave Ospreys a 9-0 lead at half-time.

In the second half, Davies ran in two tries after Steffan Evans and then Hadleigh Parkes combined to set him up for the line. His second score brought the scores level on 50 minutes.

Biggar’s kicking kept the four-time league champions in the match but the free-flowing high tempo play of the Scarlets could hold it off with Lee scoring his first try for the Welsh region. As the 80 minutes passed the champions decided to settle for the win instead of going for the 4 try bonus point.

Final score: Ospreys 18 Scarlets 19
