A 36-year-old man has been sent to prison for 12 weeks suspended for 24 months for stalking a female victim from Ammanford.
Peter Brown of Pardoe Crescent, Barry was found guilty of the offence at Carmarthenshire Magistrates’ Court sitting at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on 26/09/2018.
The court heard that between 10/05 and 05/09 at Ammanford Brown had pursued a course of conduct which amounted to the stalking of a female and which he knew or ought to have known amounted to the harassment of her in that during the said dates has sent numerous messages, emails and has attempted to climb on to the roof of her home address. Contrary to section 2A(1) and (4) of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
Brown was committed to prison for 12 weeks suspended for 24 months.
He was also ordered to comply with the requirements within the supervision period of 24 months and participate in an accredited programme for 45 days. He must also carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and a restraining order was made whereby he must not contact the victim directly or indirectly by any means whatsoever. Enter any part of any premises occupied by the victim for the time being as her usual place of residence. Enter any data or cause or permit any data to be entered on any electronic device, network or the internet that refers directly or by necessary inference to the victim.
Brown was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115 and costs of £85
