A brace of tries from fly half Mike Sauro helped Pontyberem to a thumping 45-5 win over local rivals Tumble at Pontyberem Park yesterday, Saturday (Dec 29).

After defeat at Parc y Mynydd Mawr at the start of the season, the home side were keen to respond in the Gwendraeth Valley Festive Derby.

Pontyberem were dominant is almost every aspect of the game and were rewarded with tries through Mike Jenkins, Bryn Griffiths, Aled Rees, Dafydd Jones and captain Wayne Williams along with Sauro’s double to claim the bonus point.

The five-point victory sees Pontyberem climb up to 2nd spot in the National League 2 West behind leaders Penclawdd. Tumble remain at the bottom of the table having only won one match so far this season.

Next Saturday Glasadu travel away to Pontarddulais.
