PLAID Cymru’s Llanelli Constituency Branch sees a new era for the party in Llanelli as new officers vow to take the fight to Labour.
Plaid Cymru’s Llanelli Constituency Branch is back on its feet and ready to take the fight to Labour, according to the Branch Chairperson Deris Williams.
The formation of the new Plaid Cymru Llanelli Committee follows the news that Plaid Cymru’s Llanelli Town Branch has also been reinstated over the last few weeks, with new officers leading the party in the centre.
Speaking after the Constituency Branch’s Annual General Meeting, Deris Williams hailed a new era for the party in Llanelli as new officers are elected.
Deris Williams said:
“Following a turbulent few months for Plaid Cymru in Llanelli, we have worked tirelessly within the constituency to build the party up and create a buzz around the group in the area again. This work saw fruition on the 17th of July as a packed AGM in Ponthenri saw brilliant and enthusiastic new officers elected, vowing to unite the party once again.
“The eagerness of the new officers, coupled with an exciting increase in our membership, has put the party back on its feet. We’re now in a position to move the party forward, highlight the fantastic work being done in Carmarthenshire County Council under a Plaid Cymru-led administration, and hold Labour to account for the decades of failures and broken promises that have decimated Llanelli’s Town Centre.”
Plaid Cymru’s Leader Leanne Wood has welcomed the positive steps being taken by local members in Llanelli, and sees a bright future for the party locally:
“I am really pleased that the Llanelli Constituency has recently appointed a full committee of new officers to take the constituency forward. It’s also great to see so many old and new members joining the party in the constituency
“Llanelli has a proud history of fighting against injustice, and I believe that our positive team of officers will lead the fight against Welsh Labour’s mismanagement of our NHS and education system and give the people of Llanelli the voice they so desperately need and deserve.
“I am looking forward to visiting Llanelli over the summer.”
