Mr Drakeford will replace Carwyn Jones AM when he stands down sometime next week.
Both Vaughan Gething and Eluned Morgan took to Twitter to congratulate Mr Drakeford on his victory. Vaughan Gething took second place with 41.4% of the vote.
He tweeted: “Obviously I’m disappointed not to win the @WelshLabour leadership but I am incredibly grateful for all the support both during and after the contest. Congratulations to both @Eluned_Morgan & of course @MarkDrakeford on his win. I look forward to working together for Wales.
Eluned Morgan took third place in a leadership challenge. Following the result she tweeted: “Massive congratulations to @MarkDrakeford ! Thank you so much to everyone for all the support over the past few months.”
