RESEARCH conducted by the Centre For Towns and Southampton University suggests that Wales will suffer most economically from the coronavirus pandemic and Llanelli is in the top 10 out of 800 small and medium sizes towns.
Coastal and former industrial towns are most economically at risk the research indicates and Wales has 12 towns in the top 20.
Overall 61 towns in Wales are in the top 800 expected to be most at risk.
Other towns in West Wales whose economies are expected to be badly hit include, Ammanford, Aberdare, Maesteg, Merthyr, Rhondda, Milford Haven and Ystradgynlais,
The indicators used in this research have been calculated by taking into account a range of factors including percentage of the population with bad health and in fuel poverty, net annual income, levels of unemployment and a town’s existing levels of deprivation,
