THE hunt to find the 2018 Bara Brith Champion is stepping up a pace, as the big day is less than two weeks away.

“The interest in this year’s Championship has been fantastic” said Geraint Hughes from Jones Crisps, who in partnership with Llandudno Christmas Fayre are holding the event at the Holy Trinity Church during the Llandudno Christmas Fayre on Friday November 16th.

“Of course the junior class which is new this year has raised interest among the younger backers which is very exiting” added Geraint Hughes. “With so many different take on the traditional Bara Brith, with receipies being pass down through generations, it will be very interesting to see what these budding young bakers will produce”.

Also new this year is the drop off points across Wales where competitors can leave their entries knowing that they will be collected and brought safely to the event in perfect condition.

“It is a worry that is shared by the competitors who can not personally deliver the Bara Brith to Llandudno and would therefor need to post their entry, whether they would arrive safely and on time, so this year we have arranged different pick up points from the south and mid Wales”

The following locations can be used to drop off the Bara Brith:

Canna Deli, Cardiff
High Street Deli, Newtown
Blasau Delicatessen, Machynlleth
Merched y Wawr Head Office, Aberystwyth.

Competitors should call the Jones Crisps office for more details – 01758701308

“We urge anyone who believes that it’s their Bara Brith is the best in the world
to get their entries in as soon as possible” said Geraint. “Winning the title of the
World Bara Brita Champion is quit an honour, and not forgetting the beautiful trophy made by Great British Ironworks and the cash price” said Geraint “It really is quite an event”.
