CARMARTHENSHIRE County Council have rejected ‘controversial’ plans to build 42 new homes in Laugharne after concerns over the future of it’s playing fields.
A petition was made against the move to build houses, with more than 300 people signing it.
The plans were turned down by Carmarthenshire County Council’s planning committee.
Speaking to Llanelli Online, Neil Hamilton AM said: “I am absolutely delighted that the Planning Committee voted overwhelmingly to reject this planning application, despite the recommendation from the Planning Officers.
“The application completely reneged on the community benefits which had previously been agreed and it would, in my opinion, have been quite wrong for it to go ahead without these being included.
“If the applicant decides to appeal then, for this to be successful, the original community benefits which were promised must be fully re-instated. The people of Laugharne deserve nothing less.”
