MID and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service have been dealing with a fire in an area of forestry near to the Pembrey Country Park. Large plumes of smoke could be seen coming from the park late this afternoon, Friday (May 29).

Photographer Peter Tully said that fire tenders had entered the park and were dealing with what appeared to be a grass fire.

The park has been closed to the public during the COVID-19 crisis.

Pembrey forest of 2800 acres is owned and managed by Natural Resources Wales (NRW).

Pembrey conservation trust volunteers support the management and maintenance  of the 35km of access and valuable habitats found within the woodlands in partnership with NRW.
