THE City of Swansea Aquatics made a splash when they hosted the 2018 Club Championships at Penlan Community Leisure centre on the 29th and 30th September.

300 swimmers took part in the event and put in promising performances over the two day competition.

Hayley Baker, Head coach of Swansea Aquatics said: “It was a great two day meet, the swimmers of all ages showed great team spirit, working hard with the coaches which has resulted in great performances.

“We are seeing a great team utility from swimmers in the first group academy bronze all the way up to swimmers in the Swim Wales National Performance centre.

“We are lucky enough to have swimmers like Dan Jarvis (commonwealth silver medalist) who is coached by Adam Baker and Stuart McNarry.”

Hayley continued: “The club has fantastic support from coaches, officials and the army of volunteers who do a fantastic job in the background making the day to day running of the club possible”.

With the club making big waves of late, the coaching team have been recognised for their achievements.

Hayley has been selected for the Swim Wales Coaching Development programme for Gold pathway where she will be attending international meetings with the leading national training delivery over the course of the year.

Sam Jones, Assistant Head Coach and Oliver Tennant, Performance Coach have been selected for the bronze group where they will lead the national skills squad, raising and inspiring the next generation of swimmers.”
