BURRY Port RNLI were called out to assist two people who got into difficulty in the water off Blue Pool, near Burry Holmes on Sunday (Aug 19).
A helicopter was also dispatched to assist with the rescue.
Alun Wells, Deputy Launching Authority & Lifeboat Press Officer said: “The lifeboats were launched off the beach and on the water and was on the scene within 12 minutes.
“Apparently, one child casualty had been washed off the rocks into the deep surrounding water, and the second casualty had jumped in to assist the child.
“Both casualties were picked up and taken in to Broughton Beach.
“The paramedic, lifeboat crew members and the coastguard team attended to the casualties who were then both airlifted to Morriston Hospital for medical treatment.
“One casualty was relatively well, but the rescuing casualty had swallowed water and was suffering from hypothermia.”
