The club whose ground is a frisby throw away from the coast benefit from the sea air full of iodine. The local butcher's shop may also be responsible for beefing out some of the lads to gigantuan proportions and you know what they say about cockles and laverbread and lead in pencils and hairs on chests.

THE Healthy Life Activities triathlon series has got underway over the last seven days with a double header of events for novice and elite triathletes of all ages in Ammanford and Carmarthen.

DAI Lenscap managed to miss the Irish ferry this morning and so he had to hot foot it by bicycle back to Llanelli to cover the latest and 71st Coast Park Run.

In between iced lollies and a few 99's, our Dai complete with Bermuda Shorts, Hawaian shirt and Panama hat managed to snap some of the people barmy enough to take to the asphalt on one of the hottest April days in decades, today, Saturday (Apr 21).

Dafen Ladies AFC gain promotion after league win

AFTER a competitive and rollercoaster season Dafen Ladies AFC have been crowned champions of the WWWGL league.

Speaking on the success, their manager Yvonne Collins said: "We set themselves a realistic target to win every game at home in the season and see where that could take us. With one game remaining at home, whilst keeping a 100% win record, we have managed to secure the league title with a game to spare."

Scarlets army head to Dublin

THE sun was shining down on Parc Y Scarlets this morning as hundreds of Scarlets fans set off to Dublin ahead of tomorrow's European semi-final showdown with Leinster at the Aviva Stadium.

Punishing pedalling at Pembrey as Battle On The Beach returns

THE annual Battle On The Beach took place this weekend Saturday and Sunday (Apr 14-15) at Pembrey Country Park.

The event which draws in thousands of people to the area benefitted from glorious sunshine on the Saturday whereas it was a much cooler affair with showers on the Sunday.

Participants had the opportunity to camp within the Country Park and there were plenty of stalls providing food and entertainment including live music.

Scarlets suffer defeat in Edinburgh

EDINBURGH scored six tries to register an impressive 52 - 14 victory over the Scarlets at Murrayfield.

Burry Port edge Betws in great rugby spectacle

Burry Port ran out winners in their clash with Betws RFC on Saturday (Apr 14)

Although Burry Port dominated play for most of the first half of the game, the visitors Betws put on a fine display of rugby themselves.
