Cefneithin dominate Pontyates to win local derby

THE men from Cefneithin looked determined and ready for anything even as they arrived in the car park of Pontyates RFC on Saturday (Apr 14).

Miner’s Welfare Hall still important 80 years on

THE first of many celebrations planned to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the building of the Miner's Welfare Hall in Pontyates took place today, Monday (Mar 5).

Police seeking answers to mystery of Cynheidre RTC

Dyfed-Powys Police are seeking answers as to why a black Renault car ended up in a field near Cynheidre. Skid marks and tyre tracks can clearly be seen at the scene on the B4309 road. There have been a number of RTC's on the B4309 in recent months.

Pontyates remembers

THE village of Pontyates gathered to remember the fallen today, Sunday (Nov 12) at the war memorial outside the Miner's Welfare Hall.  Although the numbers of veterans are dwindling many of the local organisations including the scouts and beavers turned out to pay tribute. £300+ penalty for Pontyates dog poo incident

A PONTYATES man learned an expensive lesson for allowing his dog to escape his garden and foul on a grass verge.

Timothy Alan Canby, of Maes Glas, Pontyates, has been ordered to pay £310.85 for failing to pick up after his dog – despite not being with him at the time.

Car seized following Pontyates RTC

Dyfed-Powys Police have seized a car following an road traffic collision (RTC) involving the vehicle on the junction of the B4309 and the B4317 in Pontyates.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Police attended Heol y Meinciau at 11.05pm on Monday, August 21, 2017 following reports of a car blocking the road.

“The car, a black Ford Fiesta, had hit a kerb and wall.

“The car was seized and the driver reported for having no insurance.”
