End of an era for Burry Port Dementia Group

CHAIRMAN of the Dementia Carers Support Group Dennis King is stepping down after many years of fighting for better care for dementia sufferers in Carmarthenshire.

The group, which started in Burry Port in November 2016, offers a wide range of care to those suffering with dementia. It provides information about what they are entitled to, what type of dementia they may have, and offers social activities that they otherwise may not get access to.

Nearly 300 runners take part in Ammanford 10K road race

THE town of Ammanford hosted the second of two running events in the space of a few weeks last Sunday (Jul 8) following the Junior Fun Run earlier in June where 380 youngsters ran around the track.

The Ammanford 10K Road Race incorporated the West Wales Road Running Championships for the first time and this boosted the number of people who attended on a warm morning to nearly 300 runners.

Police appeal following vehicle theft in Ammanford

DYFED-Powys Police are appealing for any sightings of a van which was stolen from Ammanford.

The white Ford Transit (registration number EX11 BMZ) was reported stolen from High Street, Ammanford, at 3.15pm on June 11.

It was last seen heading towards Betws Mountain, and towards Swansea.
