EIGHT volunteers attended the latest meeting of the Hendy and Bont Carnival Committee. Steve Lloyd-Janes told Llanelli Online:  The meeting was productive with lots of updates and ideas shared as well as planning for this year’s carnival.  The various competitions were discussed including the theme of sporting events and the writing competition.  Three local schools are all invited to ask the children to write a short story based on the carnival theme. The stories could be about anything which may include sporting events the children have been to or watched or even an event or sporting competition which the children have taken part in. The best short story from each of the schools as with tradition will be printed in the carnival programme with The Warburtons Bread Shield going to the school with the best story. Also discussed was with  the feasibility of inviting some well known sporting celebs who live or come from the community to come along and attend the carnival as a guest and to help with various judging of the competitions and the parade held during  carnival day.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday (Apr 4) at Noddfa Chapel. Up to date news and details around the planning of the carnival event will be added regularly to the carnivals face book page.
