THE Carmarthenshire League is said to be in a ‘state of flux’ following Llanelli Town and Rural Council’s decision to ban all football being played on their pitches until further notice.
The Councils say that they need two weeks of rain and then four more weeks of work to repair and prepare the pitches.
The Carmarthenshire League fixtures are scheduled to start on 18th August but it now looks more likely to start in early October.
If that happens, the league will struggle to complete its season’s programme.
There are fears that some clubs may fold as a result of the delay. Ponthenri football club have already folded due to major drainage problems with their pitch last season with players having left for other clubs.
