A 28-year-old Llanelli man has received a 12 week jail sentence suspended for 12 months for using threatening behaviour.

Leslie Jareth Butler of 2 Pen y Wern, Llanelli appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on 27/02/2020.

The court heard that on 27/07/2019 at Llanelli, Butler used towards another threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour with intent to cause those persons to believe that immediate unlawful violence would be used against them by any person, or to provoke the immediate use of unlawful violence by them whereby those persons were likely to to believe that such violence would be used, or it was likely that such violence would be provoked Contrary to section 4(1) and (4) of the Public Order Act 1986.

The court heard that Butler had taking hold of someone in a neck hold, repeatedly throwing punches.

Butler was sentenced to a 12 week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £122 and court costs of £85.

He was also ordered to comply with comply with requirements within a supervision period of 12 month, which includes carrying out unpaid work for 120 hours within the next twelve months.
