GRADUATION is a big event for most people but spare a thought for these little ones from the Jellitots Nursery in Morfa who donned their caps and gowns and walked out in front of a crowd of proud parents.

FOLLOWING our article on 11/07 (Gatherers anger at decimation of cockle beds) regarding the mass mortalities of cockles in the Burry Inlet and at Laugharne we have been contacted by cockle gatherers from Llanybri who claim that the beds there are also full of dead cockles.
Local fisherman and cockle gatherer Phillip Maides said:
"The cockle beds at Llanybri were meant to be opening next Saturday. There are around 20 to 30 of us who were relying on the beds to open for work.

A 31-year-old male has been found dead in a lane between Westbury Street and Llys Y Drindod in Llanelli. The name of the man has not been released however, in a statement issued today Dyfed-Powys Police said:
"Dyfed-Powys Police was called to a lane between Westbury Street and Llys Y Drindod in Llanelli at 10.15am on Friday, July 13 following concerns for a man’s welfare.
"Sadly, a 31-year-old man was declared deceased at the scene.
THE St Elli Lodge in Llanelli have made a presentation to the Hall Street Methodist Church, which will go towards helping support a lunch club for children in the summer holidays.

WHAT a perfect day for a carnival it was on Saturday (Jul 14). At around 12 midday a plethora of characters including Elvis Presley, Old Miss Donald and her family, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Wonder Woman and a Panda driving a tractor made their way to Parc Stephens to take part in the parade.
The carnival field was already decked out with stalls and fairground rides as well as a stage set for magician Van Buren. No Red Arrows or Red Barrows this year.
