NEIL Hamilton, UKIP Leader in Wales and AM for Mid & West Wales, got on his bike to highlight the approach of Remembrance Day 2018.
The Royal British Legion in Wales was holding its annual ‘Poppy Ride’, at the Senedd, where Neil Hamilton joined fellow AM’s and staff to cycle for five minutes on a static cycle.
Mr Hamilton said:
“In this centenary year we remember, in particular, the fallen of WW1 and ensure that their sacrifice lives on.
“But, it is also important to remember that, in buying and wearing a poppy, we are also helping a new generation of veterans and service personnel, who need our support.
“Remembrance is crucial and it was heart-warming to see so many people getting on the bikes to raise awareness of this time of reflection and gratitude when we honour the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces so many years ago.”
The Poppy Ride, was the third to be held at the Senedd, in Cardiff, and one of many such events being held all over the country.
Each AM, or member of staff, had the opportunity to cycle for five minute on static bikes. Those who cycled the greatest distance in their five minute slot, were presented with Poppy ‘Yellow Jerseys’ specially made for the event.
