The Devil’s in the detail: Alan Thomas

The issue of the sewage tank in Llanerch is lingering like a bad smell over the village as campaigners hoping to retain the field as a village green respond to a Plaid Cymru AM’s claims that the enormous underground structure is a rainwater storage tank.

Simon Thomas AM/AC made the claims on his Twitter account and subsequently explained that they were attenuation tanks. Some have accused the AM of playing a game of semantics instead of acknowledging Dwr Cymru’s own plan, which shows the tank as being fed by combined sewage chambers and gravity sewers.

In this our first film exploring the views of those involved with the plans for a new school on the site we speak to Alan Thomas who has been involved in the process from the start, examining plans and documents and he says attempting to take part in the consultation process and ensure his views and concerns are noted and acted upon by the county council. This is Alan’s story:

During the film we refer to Heol Goffa School as being empty. We are referring to the building adjacent to the school. The main Heol Goffa School is not empty and we apologise for any confusion caused by the error. We have amended the film with a subtitle clarifying that we are referring to the building adjacent to the main school.
